Do you ever have so many things to do that You just don’t know where to start. For me, when that happens: I think through my list, take it all in, then do something else entirely. It’s crazy I know, but we all need an escape from time to time. I do something else and then look at it with fresh eyes a little later.
You might be saying how in the world would this work? Well maybe it doesn’t… exactly, but it calms me down so I can get back to business. It could be the only reason I don’t get stressed easily. As long as I am working on something else my mind can have a little escape from the madness.
Right now is one of those moments. I have much I need to work on, or could be working on, But instead I am writing. For no other reason but to clear my head. I was on the verge of Anger, Frustration, fear, Anxiety, Carelessness, Giving up, Lashing out… at myself and others! Mainly myself! So, Here goes… Continue reading
I am well aware that there are many people out there that do an awesome job. I am not talking about anything in particular, It’s a variety things you and I may admire.
Let’s start with someone you admire!
Think about it… You admire that person for a reason! They are great at what they do and you possibly even aspire to be like him or her in one way or another.
I admire a lot of qualities in a lot of different people. But, what good is my admiration if it becomes Idolization.
My admiration turns to fascination… wow
to inspiration… Teach me your ways
to over-indulgence… I need more
to Worship… so amazing
to straight-up idolization… There IS nothing else
…I cant be the only one here, can I?
What happens in the middle?
I lose sight of who I am. God created me as me. You as You. He really likes us the way he made us!
Instead of taking my admiration and allowing it to spur me on, to learn and be inspired. I instead try to become a cheap Knockoff!
Nobody likes a knockoff, Every one knows it is not authentic! Everyone knows it is trying to be something it isn’t! Everyone else can see it! And there I am hoping they see what it is trying to be.
Some come very close!
Quit trying to be something that you aren’t!
Uniqueness is something that can’t be ignored… It draws you to itself.
It breaks the cookie-cutter mold and tears open the mundane doors and bursts forth with colors unseen and sights so delicious you HAVE to have them!
Let’s celebrate our uniqueness!
You are pretty great already, don’t lose sight of who you are.
Imagine with me for a moment that your whole life as you know it comes to an abrupt screeching halt. You know the feeling. You are driving in the car with someone and not really paying attention (neither is the driver) when all of a sudden… they slam on the pedal and the car(along with your body) tries to go from 50 mph to 0 instantaneously.
What happens? Your heart starts racing, Your more aware of your surroundings than you have been in a while, You thank Jesus that your alive(and whoever is in the car with you). Bottom line is You are still alive!
I was unfortunate enough to experience a situation in my life like this, head on. You know, the whole “world comes crashing down moments” you think only happens to someone else, and almost always only does. Until it happens to you. Continue reading
I prayed a very specific prayer the other day. It wasn’t a long well thought out prayer. It was short and exactly how I felt at the moment. I caught myself thinking things that are out of alignment with how I want to be. (I would say with who I am, if I truly could).
The truth I immediately had to deal with was that it wasn’t the situation that needed changed. The people involved didn’t need to change either. Yes I must admit… It was me. It is me. I knew it even then at that moment, but what I needed was the why. So I Prayed. What I prayed came to me the next day as I read through the word. Don’t you wish all prayers were answered that fast? I do!
Too often when things in other people’s lives go well, instead of being happy for what they have been blessed with, I feel other things. I know I know, I am a horrible person, or just honest. I start to think about my own life and wonder why things are the way they are. Honestly I have nothing to complain about. I know that I have all I need and more. That is not the point. The point is I don’t want to feel this way, I have no reason to feel this way. Then as I read through the book of Galatians the very next day, God revealed the why and Rocked my world (Gotta love that). I needed it… I still need it.
Gal 5:24 (Msg)Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good-crucified.
25 Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. 26 That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.
Gal 6:4 Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others.5 Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.
Thank You my God for answering the simple prayers, for showing me my faults and how to overcome them. Today I am thankful… for truth, for a God that loves me enough to answer me and heal my brokenness, For the blessings I see in my friends and families lives.
What do You need today? What simple heartfelt prayer do you need to pray?
I have been listening to the album Aftermath by Hillsong United almost non-stop lately. As I was preparing and had been thinking about the set list for last weekend the song “Search my Heart” kept coming to me over and over
…Search my heart and search my soul…
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24 NIV)

I know that this lyric comes from this verse David prayed to God
It really got me to thinking… What a dangerous prayer! Continue reading
Today I was sitting back and thinking a little bit about the things I love, really the things we all love.
It is so true that we find the time for the things we love. Some things are just easy to love. They can be rewarding, entertaining, fun, they take no amount of effort on my part whatsoever. But the problem is, what if the thing I love isn’t fun, it’s draining. It is for lack of a better word… Work.
Here is A shot form my work!
We all know work. Work is what we call that thing we do while we are waiting to do what we really want. Sure, You may be the lucky one that enjoys your job. But the bottom line is, it is still work. You HAVE to do it. I know that there are times that I love what I do. Continue reading
Jesus said in plain words to his disciples… Go, Tell the world, make disciples in all nations!
He said go to the world, He didn’t tell them a specific place to go to…
So why All the world… By knowing Jesus we know that he came to tell the Jews first. When Jesus left I think he was making it clear…
God cares about ALL people… He loves us all and salvation is for us all.
They didn’t get it at first… Peter needed a dream. (Acts 10) The disciples needed to scatter after the persecution of the church(Acts 8:1-4). Was this not Gods immaculate plan to spread his word further.
They didn’t get it at first. He wanted them to tell the world, their world… Every person they saw, knew and didn’t know, and why wouldn’t they tell! It’s a gift. And everyone should be excited to share this gift of hope, freedom and redemption!!!
What’s YOUR world right now? Who is he “calling” you to? He already said to to go. Your world, your mission field, might be your neighbor, your mission field might be your coworker, it might be your family!
Are you taking his commandment to tell your “world” seriously? Continue reading
